In the 5 years up to 2014/15, there was an average of 359,472 international visitors to the City of Perth with an average length stay for international visitors being 17.5 days. For 2014/15, there were 6,439,387 international visitors’ nights in the City of Perth, accounting for 56.4% of the total visitor nights.

The City of Perth’s Economic Development Strategy identifies tourism as a key component of the city’s economic mix, and actively supports this sector by coordinating and funding a range of events, festivals and programs aimed at enhancing the visitor experience.The City works with tourism businesses to help identify opportunities and develop their product offerings.
This is achieved through the following activities:
- active membership and support of the Tourism Council of Western Australia (TCWA);
- sponsoring tourism-specific industry events and conferences;
- funding and support of the Perth Convention Bureau (PCB), which markets WA as an attractive convention, exhibition and incentive travel destination.
- working closely with Tourism WA, Eventscorp and Experience Perth to coordinate campaign marketing, support joint marketing initiatives and attract large scale events; and
